So You Want To Get Into Fitness?

So you want to get into fitness?! Thank you so much for visiting my page and joining me on my fitness journey. I created this page to connect with women and mothers like myself who are always ready to better themselves. Maybe you know the importance of keeping your body in shape, but need a little push. As a mother of two I know how we have a bad habit of taking care of everyone else while sometimes neglecting to take care of ourselves. This is even more evident when you have little ones. The truth is, if we are running on empty,  how can we expect to be any good to anyone else. Fact of the matter is, you cant, at least not in the best way.  I know this from experience because I have been there.  You and your family are connected. As the mother you set the tone of the home. When I felt down and out about myself and my weight, it didn’t matter how bright my smile was, and how cheerful my voice was, my children still felt my pain. I am here for you to be your push.  I am here to tell you that not only is it ok to think about what you need, but it is necessary!

Angela Simmons Inspired Spring Fashion

I wanted to share my latest spring fashion inspiration, as spring is swiftly approaching. This particular outfit is worn by the beautiful Angela Simmons.

The color choices in the ensemble are vibrant and gorgeous. The bold yellow jacket, matched with the vivid hot pink pumps. I must say my favorite piece to this outfit is the pink pumps. The vivid hue of the hot pink Brian Atwood pumps almost appears ablaze against her skin tone.

Inspired by Angela’s smoking hot ensemble, I styled this outfit.

Angela Simmons Inspired Spring Fashion

This outfit features a yellow silk-wool blend fitted military jacket by Alexandre Vauthier, the perfect spring fashion piece. I paired the yellow jacket with flattering light washed distressed stretch jeans by Paige Denim. The white tank top by Rag & Bone is a loose fit, and lightweight jersey material, with a breast pocket. For the shoes, I chose Christin Louboutin So Kate 120mm pumps in stunning hot pink patent leather. These hot pink pumps could really hold their own in this ensemble, with or without the jacket. To add the finishing touches, I accessorize with a beautiful multicolored stone and crystal necklace with the matching three finger ring by Shourouk Tyson.

Does anyone else get excited when its time to ditch their deep burgundy lipstick for a lighter pink shade. That’s why I chose this Mac Pink Pigeon Matte lipstick. This always happens to me around the change of the season. I can’t wait to adjust my lipsticks and clothes. I have always loved the richness of fall fashion. I have more black and grey in my closet than Id like to admit. However, I must say that I am so ready for things to brighten up a bit. Including my closet. This is the perfect spring fashion ensemble to usher in the beautiful days of spring ahead. How will you brighten up your closet for spring?

4 Good Reasons You Should Enjoy A Glass Of Wine Today

Well loves it’s been about 4 months and 23 days since my last post. Life has been hectic these past couple of months, and I’ve been super busy. However, I have not forgotten about you, and what better day to jump back in the swing of things than National Drink Wine Day! This post is for all my readers across the nations who are fellow wine lovers. Cheers to celebrating a holiday where we do what we do every day anyway!

Happy National Wine Day

So, to celebrate I’m going to give you 4 Good Reasons You Should Enjoy A Glass Of Wine At Some Point Today. There is nothing like kicking back after a hard day (or any day) and enjoying a nice glass (or two or three) of your favorite wine. Maybe you will even enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching a documentary such as Somm or Red Obsession (Thank you Netflix).

Now, if you do not partake for you own reasons that is your choice. I can’t say I understand it, but hey… to each his own. I would be remiss if I did not give you some facts about the benefits of drinking wine on this wonderful day of celebration. With that being said, lets get into these 4 reasons you should enjoy a glass of wine at some point today.

4 Good Reason You Should Enjoy a Glass of Wine Today

Reason #1. Be Merry

In September 2015, Medical News Today released an article on the benefits of wine consumption in moderation. One benefit they noted was from a study that determined that, men and women who consume two to seven glasses of wine per week were less likely to suffer from depression. Yes, you read that right, Two to seven glasses. Happy sipping!

Reason #2. For Your Heart

According to Web MD, wine drinkers as a group, have a significantly lower mortality from cardiovascular disease, and cancer. I’ll toast to that!

Reason #3. For Your Skin

Red wine is full of antioxidants. Antioxidants are known for their anti aging properties, and fighting free radicals in order to keep your skin looking younger. Cheers Beautiful!

Reason #4. For Weight Loss

Go ahead and read that again. Yes, for weight loss! Can you believe it? As if wine couldn’t get any better, it also helps you loose weight! Researcher from The University of Alberta in Canada discovered, red wine has a natural compound called resveratrol. Resveratrol is proven to show the same results as extensive endurance exercise training. In essence drinking a glass of red wine is like spending an hour at the gym. I’ll take the entire bottle please, thanks!

You know, I do not discriminate with my wine. I enjoy red, white, rose, sparkling, or dessert. Now don’t get all wine snob on me. I have tried my fair share of wines, but I’m not going to pretend I’m a certified Sommelier. The world of wine is so big; my list of experiences would look rather small compared to it. Some of the wines I’ve enjoyed include: Merlot, Malbec, Resling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Zinfendel, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Moscato, Moscato d’Asti, Spumante, Brut, and my latest Gewurtztraminer. I should not forget Honey Meade as an honorable mention. Here is a montage of my friends and I enjoying this divine beverage over the years. I threw a beer in there for fun sake.

Have I convinced you to have a glass today? If so, what wine will you have? I want to hear from you in the comments Loves. Cheers!

5 Quotes To Start Your Week Right With #MotivatedMonday

Hello, Loves! Every Monday I like to start the week of with a little motivation, so I started #MotivatedMonday. Monday Has such a bad rep compared to the other six days of the week. Monday mornings are usually meet with gripes, complaints, and down right mourning the dreaded end of the weekend. With #MotivatedMonday, I wanted to send out positive energy and motivational quotes that will uplift, amuse, and inspire.

5 Quotes To Start Your Week Right With #MotivatedMonday

I believe the beginning of the week should be met with energy, determination, and confidence. Here are five quotes from this weeks #MotivatedMonday, that are sure to help you start your week right.

1.) ALWAYS SMILE

It is a scientific fact that when you smile at someone their instinctive reaction is to smile back. Smiling can benefit your physical health, as well as emotional health. Physically smiling can relax your body, and lower your heart rate, as well as your blood pressure. Emotionally smiling releases neural signals in your brain that fight depression, and stress. As a bonus, studies show that others find you more attractive when you smile, and, as a result, treat you better. So as it turns out smiling is all around better for you. So smile Love!

2.) DO SOMETHING EVERYDAY THAT BRINGS YOU CLOSER TO YOUR GOALS.

I find it helpful to start each month/ week/ day with a set of goals. Each goal may lead up to an ultimate goal, or they could be a set of small individual goal. Either way, I find that I am more productive, satisfied, and overall happy if I have set out an intention for what I do on a daily basis. Know that you may not reach every goal or intention when you want to, but doing something every day that brings you closer to your goals is sure to get you closer than you think to reach them.

3.) TRAIN YOU MIND TO SEE THE POSITIVE IN EVERYTHING

This tip can get a little bit tricky. My peers know me as optimistic. It was my nickname as a cheerleader in college. However, even the cheeriest of cheerleaders can find themselves in a funk. It could be school issues, family issue, relationship issue, financial issue, job issues. Sometimes it can feel like each issue hit you at once, or one after the other. Stress can turn you into a not so fun person to be around. I have caught myself slowly slipping into my Eeyore attItude with my dark cloud hovering over me, following me as I mope through the day. I can happen to the best of us, and the only way to part those dark clouds is to see the silver lining. Fight that negativity with positivity. Focusing on what you are grateful for is a great start.

4.) WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG IN YOUR LIFE, JUST YELL “PLOT TWIST” AND MOVE ON.

I truly get a kick out of this quote. I understand that realistically as a mature adult, this may not be the answer to every issue one may find themselves up against. However, it sure cures the small issues that we shouldn’t dwell upon. I have been through issues that made me feel like it was the end of my world. And low and behold, I’m still here. If I would have known then what I know now, I surely would have yelled “PLOT TWIST” and moved right along.

5.) HAVING A ROUGH DAY? PLACE YOUR HAND OVER YOUR HEART. FEEL THAT? THAT’S CALLED PURPOSE. YOU’RE ALIVE FOR A REASON. DON’T GIVE UP!

This quote may be lengthy, but what it lacks in brevity, it makes up for with validity. I am a strong believer that every human being has a spiritual assignment here on earth. I am not sure that I completely understand my assignment, but I do know that If I am still here then I have not completed it yet. The present is a gift. I pray every day that I am productive in fulfilling my spiritual assignment, and not otherwise unappreciative of being blessed to be in the present. If you are blessed to be here in the present, Don’t give up Love, you have a purpose.

Happy National Root Beer Float Day!

Who doesn’t love a good cold, and creamy root beer float?!  I love root beer floats, and enjoy them all year long, so I am genuinely excited to wish you all a Happy National Root Beer Float Day! I remember the very first time I tasted a root beer soda. It was one summer when my family and I took our annual Hersey’s and Dutch Wonderland trip.  I noticed my Dad enjoying a drink of soda in a brown can.  As an inquisitive six-year-old, I wasn’t satisfied with just asking my Dad what type of soda he was drinking, I also had to ask if I could taste it.  Without hesitation, he reached for a plastic cup off of the table and poured me a taste. “This is my favorite soda”; he explained proudly as he poured the fizzy pop into the cup.  I was taken by surprise at the sweet and creamy flavor of the soda. “Mmm, I LOVE IT,” I shouted in excitement.  My mother interrupted, “well if you love root beer soda, you are going to love this,” as she added a scoop of vanilla ice cream to my cup. I was an instant fan!  I had no idea that I would lose my father to chronic asthma the following year, and my life as I knew it would change forever.  Now, every time I enjoy a root beer float I am reminded of summer vacations, and good times with my dad.  Are you a fan of root beer floats?  If so comment below, I would love to hear how you enjoy your float.  I hope you can enjoy a good root beer float with your family today.
